Rounding in the Calculator

This calculator is intended to be used for the daily work of dosing chemotherapy for adults. That said, certain features have been built in to improve safety. One important one is the rounding protocol that is followed.

It is this clinician’s opinion that extraneous decimal places in chemo dosing are every bit as dangerous as trailing zeroes. Therefore, the final doses that are offered are rounded according to the following rules:

If the final dose is greater than or equal to 20, the dose will be offered as an integer (no decimal).
If the final dose is less than 20, the dose will be offered with a tenths place.

If your dosing schema requires more detailed calculation you have two options.

1. calculate your dose in mcg rather than mg then move the decimal back
2. contact me
